About the t.a. Dugger Band
The T. A. Dugger band is made up of a beginner band and an advanced band. The beginner band is made up of all first year students and new students to our system. The beginner band is divided into two classes that have mixed instrumentation and meet daily.
The advanced band also meets daily and is comprised of seventh and eighth grade students who meet the criteria to be in this ensemble. The advanced band classes are divided by instrument families with a 7th & 8th brass class, a 7th & 8th woodwind class, and a 7th & 8th percussion class.
At the end of their sixth grade year each student is given a playing test consisting of scales and a prepared selection. All students passing the test are assigned to the advanced band for their seventh grade year. Those who do not pass may repeat beginner band to improve their skills and then enter the advanced band their eighth grade year.
